A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,
If you have been following along, you know we have been on a fun ride with Carson’s Second Baptist Eagle’s Women’s Soccer Team. The Eagles fought valiantly in the semi-final game and won after two double-over time periods and then penalty kicks. Then on Wednesday, we went to the State Championship Game, and it too went to double overtime. We came up just a bit short, losing 2-1 to All Saints Episcopal.

When you exert great effort and come up a bit short, it hurts. There are tears and sadness. But the loss is temporal—in a few days, these girls will be back to being fourteen- to eighteen-year-old teenage girls on Spring Break.
But when people lose out on finding Jesus, the loss is eternal.
The Apostle Paul says, “And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15). Our Global Missions Offering helps send those willing to go and preach the good news. When you give to the Global Missions Offering (anytime between now and Palm Sunday, April 13), you are helping plant churches, evangelize the lost, enable missionaries, and finish the Great Commission.

Remember that there are several ways to donate! There's the “Give” option in the app or you can give online at cityirse.org/give. Going to cityrise.org/globalmissions will provide you with more details as well as a link to the giving page. There are also special offering envelopes in the back racks of our pews in which you can place cash or check (designating it “Global Missions Offering” in the memo) and then drop into the offering plate.
Before we get to the weekend, I want to share with you an update on the church-wide voting that took place this past Sunday regarding our annual church business. All motions passed with overwhelming support! We will press ahead, seeking to expand God's kingdom through the work of our church.
And as we embark on Spring Break, please be in prayer for two mission trips that will happen. One is our first trip to El Salvador with a team leaving today, and the other is our high school seniors heading to Ecuador for a week of ministry in the mountains with One Heart Global Ministries. These are amazing opportunities to lift the world with the gospel of Jesus, and we can't wait to hear the teams' stories when they return.
Have a great weekend, a great Spring Break, and we'll see you on Sunday, Church Family!
Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
PS Don't forget about Daylight Savings Time this weekend and having to Spring Forward an hour before church on Sunday!
