Be Still Devotional: Day 23

Devotion for Wednesday March 12
Robby Dobbs | Discipleship Pastor
Scripture
Romans 8:31
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Devotional Thought
It’s one of those weeks. Your schedule is overloaded. You’re facing several expenses you hadn’t budgeted for. A close relationship has fractured. And to make matters worse, people you trusted have turned away when you need them the most. How deeply painful and disheartening!
Life can often feel heavy and beat us down. From contending with crises to having friends whose loyalty and support leave us disappointed, we can be overwhelmed by day-to-day life, making us feel completely defeated.
While we know difficulties and challenges are inevitable, we must constantly remind ourselves that it is how we deal with those troubles and setbacks that makes a difference in our lives.
So, what do you do when you’re faced with struggles and worries? Are you overcome by anxiety? Or do you remind yourself of today’s Bible verse? It declares that if God is for us, who can be against us? This is an amazing assurance! No matter how great the challenges you face, no matter how difficult life feels, you can be secure in the knowledge that God is for you. He is on your side through all your trials, and He will help you through. That’s great news. Don’t be overcome when faced with hardship and burdens. Be encouraged that you do not face anything alone. God is with you, and He is for you!
Reflection Questions
Suggested prayer/action step
This week, if you feel the problems and pressures of life mounting, repeat Romans 8:31 out loud. Let this truth and declaration empower you and bring you comfort and peace!
