A Note from Pastor Roger

Last night, my daughter’s soccer team won their fourteenth straight game to advance to the final four in Tapps Division IV women’s soccer. It was an incredible match against Lutheran South, a team we have faced two other times and won—but it’s not easy beating the same team three times. At the end of regulation, it was tied 1-1. We almost scored three times in two, ten-minute overtime periods, but in the end we went to penalty kicks.

It was a pressure-packed environment and went to the seventh penalty kick per side before the Second Baptist Eagles pulled it out! Wow! It was nuts!

The celebration was incredible and the joy on the girls’ faces was so amazing.
There is nothing like accomplishing something big alongside others committed to the same cause. This Easter season, we are asking everyone to join together to give to our Global Missions Offering. This offering serves our missionaries all over the world, beginning here in Houston (with 10% given to Union Baptist Association), throughout the state of Texas (10% to the Baptist General Convention of Texas), throughout North America (20% to the North American Mission Board), and to the nations (60% to the International Mission Board).

When we come together and give, the gospel goes to children, parents, communities, and places you and I may never set foot, churches are planted, cities are lifted, and the kingdom of God advances. Will you take the field with us and give so that others can experience the ultimate victory that is found in Jesus Christ?

You can give via the “Give” option in the app or online at cityirse.org/give, and you can go to cityrise.org/globalmissions for details and a link to the giving page. There are also special offering envelopes in the back racks of our pews in which you can place cash or check (designating it “Global Missions Offering” in the memo) and then drop into the offering plate.

Join us, and together let’s push back the darkness and propel the light of Christ throughout our city and around the world.
