A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,

Twelve years ago, I was walking down the center aisle of our sanctuary at our West U Baptist location. Kathleen Yarborough was also walking down that aisle. Having seen fruit that was blossoming in her ministry as an ESL volunteer, I asked her if she wanted to join our staff and work for us full time. It took a little arm twisting, but eventually Kathleen joined our team and has expanded our ESL offerings and Community Ministries beyond my wildest expectations. She is one of the most connected people in our city with one of the biggest hearts to serve our Lord and His kingdom that has ever graced our staff in the life of our church.

Kathleen’s last Sunday on our staff will be this weekend. She is retiring so that she and her husband, Steve, can travel more (and so that she and her mom can enjoy more cruises). She and Steve will still be involved in our church and of course still be serving the Lord in whatever adventure they are on. When you see Kathleen or Steve, please extend a word of thanksgiving to them.

I’d like to say, Kathleen, well done, and thank you! You have left this place better than you found it, and I am so thankful for the time we have had together on staff.
The second big announcement is an update on the demolition progress at CityRise Missouri City. This project is in motion, and we are hopeful to expand the parking and have the building back as we progress through 2025. Here are a few photos of the education building that I received yesterday morning. After diligently waiting to take the necessary steps to settle the insurance claim, we are putting the facility back together. Please continue to pray for resolution of the insurance claim, as we will take some important steps this July.
And thirdly, Rick Peters is leading a small team to serve in Cuba this week. Please pray for their safe travel and that the Lord would prepare hearts as they share the Good News with the people in Eastern Cuba.
We do have some bonus announcements for the guys! Don’t forget Guys Grill Night tonight at 6:00P at our CityRise Bellaire campus and the Father-Son Fishing Trip this Saturday at Blessington Farms! (Click the images below for details.)
We'll see you on Sunday, Church Family!

Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
