Be Still Devotional: Day 12

Devotion for Tuesday February 25
Dr. Paul Magyar | West U Baptist Worship & Senior Adults Pastor
Scripture
Deuteronomy 33:27a
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Devotional Thought
Living under a roof where we and our loved ones are protected is a blessing. Being surrounded by a loving, caring community such as our church fellowship is also a blessing. But, wonderful as they are, both of these pale when compared to the protection and provision the eternal God provides His children.
In his final words to the Israelites, Moses called God their eternal dwelling place. How amazing it is that God is our eternal home, not only in the afterlife, but each and every day of this life as well.
In the nineteenth century, Elisha Hoffman and Anthony Showalter based their gospel song of assurance, “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” on Deuteronomy 33:27.
What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms.
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms.
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
Like my mom and her dad, I love singing this song and have sung it many times in worship. Right now, lift your voice in song or simply read these words to remind yourself of God’s constant care over you.
Reflection
Today, look around you for evidences of God’s eternal care over you. If you search hard and long enough, you will be amazed at the many ways God manifests His steadfast love to His children.
Suggested prayer/action step
Go ahead! Sing this gospel song or any song out loud to remind yourself of God’s eternal care for you.
