South Africa Mission Trip Prayer Guide

Beloved Mission Team, Family and Friends,

You and I have been given an incredible opportunity to stand on the promises of God and pray earnestly for our beloved team as they serve boldly in South Africa! This prayer guide directs you into all Truth to pray for them but also to specifically pray for their families who are not with them.

As a church, whether we are worshipping God individually in our own private time of prayer, or at home with our families, or in our community groups, may we all be diligent in lifting their arms up during this time!

This prayer guide uses the acrostic P R A Y. The Word of God is provided under each heading to guide you as you pray expectantly in your time of worship and prayer before the Lord.

Begin your worship with Praise acknowledging God for who He is from His Word. With a heart of gratitude, give thanks to God for what He has done, what He is doing and what He is going to do. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 103:1-2, 34:1 ESV).

Take some time for personal Repentance. Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends You, and lead me along the path of everlasting life (Psalm 139:23-24 NLT).

Ask of Him: And this is the confidence we have before Him: that whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us regarding whatever we ask, then we know that we have the request that we have asked from Him. (1 John 5:14 NET).

Then wholeheartedly Yield to all God speaks to you through the power of His Word! Spend time listening to the voice of God. God’s Word is like a fire, so when you hear from Him through His Word, I pray you will not be able to contain what He has spoken to you (See Jeremiah 20:9b TLB).

Praying with you,
Mary Ann Bridgwater, Pray the Word Ministries

Praise & Thanksgiving
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His Name.
Psalm 100:4 CSB

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Sing to the LORD, praise His Name; proclaim His salvation
day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His
marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD
made the heavens.  Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary.
Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His Name; bring an offering and come into His courts. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth. Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.”
The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;
He will judge the peoples with equity.

Psalm 96:1-10 NIV

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love
endures forever.  Let the redeemed of the LORD proclaim that
He has redeemed them from the hand of the foe and has gathered them from the lands—
from the east and the west, from the north and the south.

Psalm 107:1-3 HCSB

Repentance | Confession | Cleansing
But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 NET

But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:12-14 NIV

Asking
Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18 CSB

Team Members:
Pastor Roger Patterson, Pastor Mark Edworthy, Pastor Rynie Badenhorst, Pastor Aaron Senseman, and David Glenn

PROTECTION FOR TEAM MEMBERS & 40 CHOSEN LEADERS (Airplane Flights and traveling to and from South Africa)

Hallelujah! The Lord Himself watches over our traveling Team Members and 40 Leaders! Almighty God, You stand beside them as their protective shade. The sun will not harm them by day, nor the moon at night. You, Lord, keep them from all harm and watch over their lives. Thank You, Lord, for keeping watch over all as they come and go, both now and forever. Psalm 121:5-8 NLT

FULL ARMOR OF GOD FOR DAILY PROTECTION

I pray Aaron, David, our Pastors and the 40 Leaders are strengthened, Lord, by Your vast strength. I pray they take the full armor of God to stand against the schemes of the devil. For their struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. For this reason, I pray they may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take their stand. I declare with humility they stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around their waist, righteousness like armor on their chest, and their feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. I pray, in every situation, they take up the shield of faith with which they can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:10-17 CSB

PRESENCE & POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Team Members will be teaching, training, equipping, preaching, networking, and videotaping 40 chosen Leaders who represent 40 different countries. The Leaders from the 40 countries will take all information and resources to inform 105,000 Pastors in their countries of origin.
Yes, Lord! It is written, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NET

Just as the Spirit of the LORD rested on Jesus—I pray the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and of the [reverential and obedient] fear of the LORD —rest upon the Team Members, all 40 chosen Leaders and the 40 countries they represent. Isaiah 11:2 AMP

Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ. You have given the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers to equip Your people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.  Ephesians 4:11-14 NIV

Just as each one has received a gift, empower them to use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. As they speak, let it be as one who speaks Your words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength You provide, so that You, God, may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To You, Lord, be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. 1 PEeter 4:10-11 CSB

FAMILIES OF THE TEAM MEMBERS
Prayer for the family members is essential as their loved ones are serving in South Africa.
Prayerful Hearts
I pray, Father, their families not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present their requests to You, God. Praise You Lord: and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard their hearts and their minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Strengthened
May they fear not, for You Lord, the “I am” are with them; may they not be dismayed, for You are their God; I pray You will strengthen them, You will help them, You will uphold them with Your righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 ESV

Health
I pray that the families are prospering in every way and are in good health, just as their whole life is going well. 3 John 2 CSB

Peace
Thank You Father! “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because they trust and take refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].  Isaiah 26:3 AMP

REVIVAL & SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
Oh, that the Lord would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at His presence—as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil—to make His name known to His adversaries, and that the nations might tremble at His presence!  Isaiah 64:1-2 ESV

DEEP CONVICTION OF SIN

I pray all will declare their iniquity and will be in anguish over their sin.  Psalm 38:18 NKJV

SPIRITUAL BROKENNESS
The sacrifice You desire, Lord, is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Psalm 51:17 NLT

I pray many will cry out from an anguished heart and lament out of a broken spirit.  Isaiah 65:14b CSB

HOLY FEAR OF GOD
I pray they continue to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, for it is You, God, who works in all to will and to act in order to fulfill Your good purpose.  Philippians 2:12b-13 NIV

I pray all will fear You, LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of You.  Psalm 33:8 NASB

SPIRITUAL HUNGER
Lord, it is written in Isaiah 55, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?” I pray many will listen to You, and eat what is good, and they will delight in the richest of fare. May they give ear and come to You; and listen, that they may live. God, You will make an everlasting covenant with them.  Isaiah 55: 1-3a NIV

Lord, it is written in the Gospel of Matthew, “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” I pray all may hunger and thirst for righteousness. Matthew 5:6 ASV

FERVENT INTERCESSION
I pray all will earnestly pray to You, God. Acts 12:5b NET

I pray they always pray and do not lose heart. Luke 18:1b NKJV

PASSION TO SEE PEOPLE SAVED
I pray no one seeks their own benefit, but the benefit of many, so that they may be saved.  1 Corinthians 10:33b NET

PASSION FOR MISSIONS & CHRISTIAN SERVICE
The voice of the Lord is saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” I pray all will say “Here am I. Send me!”
Isaiah 6:8 NASB

I pray they go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything You have commanded them. And surely You are with them always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

OUTPOURING OF GOD’S SPIRIT
Father God, pour out Your Holy Spirit upon all mankind, and Your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and Your young men shall see visions, and Your old men dream dreams. Yes, the Holy Spirit shall come upon all Your servants, men and women alike, and they shall prophesy. Acts 2:17b-18 TLB

If Your people, who are called by Your name, humble themselves and pray and seek Your face and turn from their wicked ways, then You will hear from heaven, and You will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV

CORPORATE PRAYER
Now may You, O God, who gives perseverance and encouragement, grant many to be of the same mind with one another, according to Christ Jesus, so that with one purpose and one voice they may glorify You, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; accepting one another, just as Christ also accepted them, for Your glory!!  Romans 15:5-7 NASB

GOD’S CALL TO MISSIONS & CHRISTIAN SERVICE
God, I call to You that everyone be ready for service and have their lamps lit. May they be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet so that when You come and knock, they can open the door for You at once. Luke 12:35-36 CSB

GLOBAL CONVICTION & SALVATION
I pray You open all eyes, so all may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to You, Father God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in You. Acts 26:18 ESV

HOLY SPREADING OF REVIVAL & SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
LORD, You have been favorable to Your land; You have brought back the captivity of Jacob. You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Selah. You have taken away all Your wrath; You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger. Restore all, O God of our salvation, and cause Your anger toward all to cease. Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations? Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show Your mercy, LORD, and grant all Your salvation. May they hear what You, the LORD, will speak, for You will speak peace to Your people and to Your saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely Your salvation is near to those who fear You, that glory may dwell in the land. Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Psalm 85:1-11 NKJV

Yielding
Father God, as we yield to You, speaking out boldly, give what is good; and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before You, and shall make Your footsteps our pathway.
Psalm 85:12-13 NKJV

In the name of Jesus, I pray we experience peace and thus are strengthened. May we live our lives in the fear of You, Lord, and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! And may the church increase in numbers!!  Acts 9:31 NET

Declaring God’s Praise
You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God, our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas. PSALM 65:5 NLT
