A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,
The “I AM” series has been such an enlightening one to go through during Easter and now beyond, unpacking the ways Jesus describes Himself in the Gospel of John. This coming Sunday, we will look at a fifth name Jesus calls Himself: the Good Shepherd.
I find the timing of “Good Shepherd” appropriate for this coming Sunday because, at our inner loop campuses, we are celebrating High School Senior Recognition Sunday. As parents, we try to be good shepherds to our children as they grow up as the time inevitably comes when they complete grade school and prepare for the next adventure ahead. As they begin this journey, we pray that they indeed follow the true Good Shepherd, make good decisions (like applying for a CityRise scholarship!), learn from failure, and never forget the roots of their faith. We are so proud of our graduating senior class all across CityRise!
Nurturing those roots of faith in our children is important. Next weekend, we have a fun opportunity for moms and 6th-12th grade daughters to do just that. The Girls and Moms Retreat is a two-day event at our West U Baptist campus on May 9 and 10, just in time for Mother's Day. Along with fun, creative moments and heartfelt worship together for moms and daughters, the purpose will be to dig into how our roots of faith direct us along the routes that God has in store. Make sure to reserve your spots today at cityrise.org/students!
