A Special Note - Texas Hill Country Flooding

Dear Church Family,

So many of us have a friend or loved one impacted by the floods in central Texas. Others of us are simply broken-hearted for these families who have lost loved ones in such a tragic way. The devastation is still being assessed and many of you are asking, “How can we get involved?” I want to give you access to a few resources.

First, if you would like to donate to the relief efforts, Texans On Mission is our disaster relief arm of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. They are already on the front lines of this disaster and will continue to be. They also have ways that you can get involved in helping the restoration process. Here is a link if you are interested in serving with them in the days and months ahead, about how to volunteer after disasters.

Second, CityRise Preschool Director Erika Roberts sent our staff an article about talking with children after a disaster strikes. If you have kids impacted by this event, this article, "Responding to Tragedy: How to Talk With Children About Traumatic Events," might serve you well. If you have a need for counseling directly related to this event, please go to cityrise.org/connect and complete our Contact Form letting us know of your need for counseling because of the trauma of this event. If you have a broader counseling need, please visit STCH Ministries and seek an appointment. STCH is our counseling partner, and they will get you on their schedule as they have availability.

Lastly, yesterday, I took time to teach on how to handle and navigate suffering. If this resource would encourage you, I want you to have access to it. You can find it on our Sermons page or on our YouTube channel.
Continue praying for our Father's love and comfort for the families and communities affected, wisdom and favor for the response teams, and God's hand over the hearts of those children.

Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
