A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,
Sunday was an awesome day. LiftOff Sunday was a lot of fun, and it was great to see our Community Groups reaching out and talking with those who had questions, and to see larger class sizes! We have been seeing growth all across CityRise and in every environment. So many of you, across all ages, are engaging through Sunday attendance, in both worship and in Community Groups. And with our weekly activities gearing up to begin next week along with other classes and events, it's going to get even better. Thank you for desiring to strengthen your faith and doing it alongside other followers of Jesus on Sundays and beyond.

Many of you know about our Bellaire Worship Pastor Aaron Senseman and his decades-long bout with a liver disease known as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). Despite the struggle he and his family have gone through, Aaron and his wife, Brittany, have steadfastly praised and worshiped God together. After years of prayer, waiting, and hoping, a donor match was found over the summer, and earlier this week, Aaron had the surgery they'd been hoping for!
We are praising God for His goodness and timing! Aaron and Brittany have been blogging about their experience and will continue to provide updates. Please keep everyone—Aaron, Brittany, and their children, the amazing donor and his entire family—in your prayers as they recover. If you'd like to follow Aaron and Brittany's journey closer, go to teamsenseman.com and join their Facebook page at facebook.com/teamsenseman.

Finally today, we celebrate another on our staff who has had a great impact in our midst for many years. Missions Pastor Chuck Oak is retiring, leaving a legacy here that literally stretches across the world. Both Chuck and his wife, Karen, have been the heartbeat of our missions ministry, touching countless lives on nearly every continent and being unafraid to share the gospel of Jesus to those who need it or have never heard it.
We'd love you to come celebrate the Oaks with us! Sunday, September 8 from 2-4p in the CityRise West U Baptist chapel, we will hold a come-and-go reception. Come and thank Chuck and Karen for their tremendous service and pray over them for the next chapter of their lives.

We'll see you on Sunday, Church Family! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
