A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,
With LSU headed to College Station this week, the Aggies and Tigers are vying for the top spot in the SEC. Georgia defeated Texas last weekend to disrupt the Longhorns, the Crimson Tide have fallen multiple times this season and are trying to figure out if they can get up, and the landscape of the SEC is different without Coach Saban.
Change is inevitable, isn’t it? What once was, isn’t always what will be.
We live in an ever-changing world, yet we have the unchanging message of reconciliation to God through the cross of Jesus that we get to proclaim. I’m so thankful that we are holding fast to our confession when the world wants and even demands that we bow our knee to its ways. This Sunday, we will be in Revelation 17 and 18 studying the Great Harlot, Babylon. You don’t want to miss this message as we see the world systems set against Christ.
I would also like to use this email to encourage you to begin praying about how we finish financially. Since Deep & Wide finished this past summer, we have fallen behind where we need to be in our on-going giving. We have an opportunity to fully fund our initiatives and our budget if we receive $12,500,000 in receipts this year. Currently, we are pacing at $11,600,000 for receipts. Would you join me in praying for a great finish to our budget year so that we can avoid taking on debt for the projects we have just completed? If you are still working on your Deep & Wide commitment, we thank you for your steadfast commitment.
Lastly, as many of you know, Pastor Rick Vasquez, who has served as the campus pastor to our Spanish-speaking congregation in Bellaire, has had to step down because of medical issues. Pastor Justo Robinson, our campus pastor of our Spanish-speaking congregation in Missouri City, has been filling in for him on Sunday afternoons the last number of months. Through a prayerful and thoughtful process, we have decided to combine our efforts for the Spanish outreach, moving all of it to our Missouri City campus, bringing these two parts of our congregation together. Please pray for this transition as it finalizes. We anticipate even greater impact in the days ahead because of the synergy of this combined effort for our city.
Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
