A Note from Pastor Roger

Good afternoon, Church Family!

We are not stopping here at CityRise. I had an incredible weekend in Belize with Missions Pastor Chuck Oak, a team is leaving today for Kenya, and last night our halls at West U Baptist and the West U Student Building were once again filled with children and students enjoying Wednesday night activities for another school year. The Lord is surely at work here and abroad!

I have two big updates for this coming Sunday, September 10, so please read on below. 
If you are unable to join us in person, you’re welcome to be with us online during one of our livestreamed services through our CityRise app, on our livestreams page, or at youtube.com/cityriseorg.

The first update today is a reminder that our worship services at Crosspoint Church - Bellaire will be taking place in the gym temporarily while the sanctuary is under construction. This means that our Students who meet there will shift to The Loft area (and some of our adult Community Groups will be meeting in the Loft, too).

We aren't letting additional construction stop us: as long as we have breath, we are still going to worship our Lord and Savior anywhere we can!

This weekend, we begin our latest Flourishing Life Journey series: Flourishing Family. For a preview, here's Young Adults Pastor Ben Hays:

"Hey Church Family! Pastor Ben Hays here. I am super excited to tell you about our new sermon series called 'Flourishing Family.'

For five weeks, we will dig into Ephesians 5:22-6:4. We will learn about God’s design for the home, unpack both the husband’s and the wife’s unique roles, and discuss how God has called both parents to love and lead their children. Check out a short highlight video below!

To accompany the sermons you'll hear in worship, we have produced an exciting video-driven small group curriculum for all our Community Groups. In the video series, my wife, Kelli, and I lead a live discussion with several members of our CityRise family, having dialogues about incredibly relevant subjects on marriage and parenting, inspired by real life conversations I have had with fellow parents.

We believe that this series—both the sermons and the small group lessons— will be a blessing to your family and will help you take practical and tangible steps toward flourishing.

If your on-campus Community Group is choosing not to use this curriculum on Sundays, we will have a Wednesday night Flourishing Family Small Group so that anyone who wants to flourish even more with their family can take advantage of this opportunity. This small group begins next week on September 13 and will run for the following four weeks, through October 11. (Childcare provided if your children aren't attending Wednesday night activities.)
