A Note from Pastor Roger
Good afternoon, Church Family!
Our hearts are full of celebration and praise to God for the good things that are already happening this summer, especially this week as you'll read below. First, remember that we're looking forward to this coming Sunday because we will begin "Anchored: Holding Fast in the Midst of Cultural Storms," a three-week series based in 1 Timothy in which Paul's encouragement to Timothy can encourage us today as we stand firm in Christ in our current culture.
If you are unable to join us in person, you’re welcome to be with us online at one of our livestreamed services through our CityRise app, on our livestreams page, or at youtube.com/cityriseorg.

Welcome Our New Student Ministry Associate
After a lengthy search, we are excited to let you know that Greyson Landrum has accepted the call to serve as our Student Ministry Associate. If you recognize that last name, Greyson is the oldest son of Bud and Julie Landrum and the grandson of our former Senior Pastor, Dr. G. Barry Landrum, and his wife, Charlotte.
Greyson has a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and is in the process of completing his Master’s in Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University. Additionally, he just completed a residency as the Kids Ministry Resident for Champions Forest Baptist Church and has extensive experience with Pine Cove camps.
We could not be more excited about having Greyson on this team! He joins Student Pastor Tim Yeager and Student Ministry Associates Ashely Miksch and Jeny Cortez—in fact, as you can see in his picture, Greyson has been having fun already working at VBX this week. Our Student Ministry team will be in a Sunday morning rotation serving our two inner loop campuses, and we anticipate God doing mighty things through this team now that it is fully staffed.

VBS & VBX
We jumped into full swing this week with Vacation Bible School for elementary students at our West U Baptist campus and VBX for our middle school students at Crosspoint Church - Bellaire! At VBS, we are enjoying over 355 children and 120+ volunteers. These kids are celebrating in song, learning through drama, and memorizing Bible verses; plus, leaders and staff have shared the gospel with all of them in a big way this week!
Not to be outdone, this year's VBX has been our biggest ever with 140+ middle school students in attendance. These students are worshipping with joy, playing hard at recreation, and learning from God’s Word. Join us in congratulating and thanking our KidStuff and Student Ministry teams for their excellent preparation and leadership of these huge annual ministry events!

We have a summer full of ministry, mission trips, camps and more as well as worship every Sunday at all of our campuses. I pray you will find rest and be able to get away to rejuvenate over the next few weeks. While you are home, we look forward to worshipping with you in person; while you are away, we look forward to worshipping with you through one of our online formats including the CityRise app, our livestreams page, or at youtube.com/cityriseorg.
It is refreshing to sense God’s movement in the things happening at CityRise. Praise be to God for all of this good news!
Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
