A Note from Pastor Roger

The King Has Come and “Messiah Sunday” Is Here

Dear Church Family,

We are in the home stretch of the year, and the Christmas season has begun! This past Sunday, we began our Advent series, The King Has Come. Isaiah 9 prophesies Jesus as the Promised King—not just any king, but our Savior who fulfills the hope God set in motion long ago.

If you’d like to share or rewatch any sermon from this Christmas series, bookmark and visit cityrise.org/christmas. It’s your source for Christmas messages, special schedules, and events.

And speaking of events, this Sunday, December 7, will be one of our favorite Christmas kickoff highlights: our annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah. If you’ve been attending CityRise for a while, you know that “Messiah Sunday” is a Christmas tradition at our West U Baptist campus going back over sixty years. Handel’s timeless piece sets the tone for the season and reminds us of the beauty and magnitude of God coming to dwell among us.

West U Baptist Worship Pastor Dr. Paul Magyar will lead “Messiah Sunday” in both the 8:30A and 11:00A services at our West U Baptist location. These services are usually packed, and we’d love to have you join us this Sunday morning!
Have a great weekend, Church Family!

Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger

P.S. As 2025 comes to a close, prayerfully consider your year-end giving to CityRise and your continued support of God’s work here in Houston and beyond. All the ways to give financially can be found at cityrise.org/give. Thank you for your generosity!
