A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,

As we transition from summer to fall, our desire is that we continue to live Lifted Lives. This sermon series was a great reminder that we are called into a church family, a community of other followers of Jesus Christ, meant to lift each other like a rising tide lifting all boats. Remember to visit our Lifted Life page for information on Community Groups, Lift Groups, serving, discipleship classes, and interest forms that will help you plug in to CityRise in the best possible ways!

Speaking of plugging in, next week our Wednesday night programming begins. We love Wednesdays at CityRise. There are choirs and clubs for kids, groups for middle and high school students, free ESL classes, and engaging Bible studies. Check out what’s scheduled by visiting our Wednesday Nights page or everything else CityRise has to offer on our Events page.
Speaking of lifting each other up, we're excited about our annual CityRise Network Leadership Conference on Thursday, September 11. This year's theme is "The Spiritual Leader," and we're inviting all leaders of local ministries, non-profits, and businesses to join us as we worship, share lunch, and learn from incredible speakers including Stephen Smith (CEO and Lead Strategist of Aerable), Dr. Louis Blom (President of Judea Harvest), and Dr. Darrin Moore (Pastor of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church). Our own Dr. Mark Edworthy, CityRise Network Director and Missouri City Campus Pastor, will also be speaking.

The goal of this conference is to connect and encourage leaders who invest in so many others - that you might be lifted, encouraged, and inspired as part of something greater. We hope to see you there! You can read our speakers’ bios and register at cityrise.org/conference.

Plugging in to where we are and working hard is vital when it comes to living our lives fully for Christ. But unplugging to recharge is just as important. We’re thankful that God gave us the example of Sabbath rest after His work of Creation, and we’re thankful that we have an extra day of rest in the country each September. However you choose to spend your Labor Day weekend, with some travel or an extra day at home, I pray that you do it in service to the Lord, with gratitude for opportunities to provide and time to rest, using both in service to Him.

If your three-day-weekend plans include travel on Sunday, you can still join us at any of our campuses for worship by going to cityrise.org/live!

Whether on campus or online, I’ll see you on Sunday!

Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
