A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,
School starts next week for most of Houston and the surrounding areas! College and grad students are also returning or beginning this exciting chapter of their lives. This weekend, we’re lifting up prayers for students to feel excited about a fresh start and for teachers, professors, administrators, and staff to step into the new year with confidence and purpose.
August is a season of transition—with routines, connections, and opportunities both familiar and new. We’re going to see many new faces and families in our services over the next few Sundays, which makes this the perfect time to focus on getting to know each other and growing in meaningful community. That’s why this Sunday’s message in our Lifted Life series is all about The Lift of Community.
At CityRise, we believe that being part of a Community Group is more than attending a weekly Bible study or catching up with friends. Community Groups reflect the way Jesus intended His followers to live—gathering in smaller groups to grow together, encourage one another, share burdens and joys, and pursue transformation in Christ.
These groups aren’t just a program—they’re a pathway to deep spiritual growth and connection. Whether you’re new or have been here for years, there’s a Community Group for you. Click here to explore CityRise Community Groups and find the one that’s right for your age or stage of life. And if you’d like some guidance in finding the right one, you’re welcome to complete our Community Groups Interest Form.
Don’t forget, you can find last week’s sermon (which focused on The Lift of Worship), this coming Sunday’s message, and more about each step in the Lifted Life journey at cityrise.org/liftedlife. If you’d like help getting connected in one of the steps, fill out an interest form—we’d be honored to walk alongside you.
Have a restful weekend, Church Family, especially all of you teachers and students. We’re praying for you!
Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
