South Texas Children's Home Ministries offers two programs.

"Faith & Work" guides people to discover God's purpose for their lives and how to fulfill that purpose through their work. Participants are provided with the tools to achieve their full potential to become confident in their ability to succeed at work, become leaders, and influence their work environments.

"Faith & Finances" teaches that God's plan for your money might be larger than yours! Biblical principles about money come alive in this highly interactive course as students are equipped to conquer the "Battle of the Budget." Classes are open to individuals, families, and youth.

Volunteers are needed to lead classes, mentor, speak, provide meals, and assist in developing relationships with community businesses to provide job opportunities for "Faith & Work" graduates.

Member-Led Opportunities

The orphan statistics are staggering. Many in our congregation have adopted or are in the process of adopting or fostering children. But the reality is not every single one of us is called to adopt. How then do we deal with the scripture that makes it very clear that we are to care for the orphan? The resources below will help you see that there are lots of ways that you can indeed take an active part and be involved in caring for the orphan, whether that means adopting, fostering or giving support in other ways.
The garden grows fresh produce to be distributed to the needy through food pantries located at CCSC’s Emergency Services Southwest and Central locations. Volunteers have grown and donated close to 10,000 pounds (5 tons) of pesticide-free fruits and vegetables in a single year. The garden is located at St. Luke’s United Methodist on their Gethsemane campus (Bellaire Boulevard near the SW Freeway).

Volunteers have a variety of church affiliations. Most work for an hour or two for up to three mornings a week (M-W-F), but everyone comes when they can. Experience is welcomed, but not necessary. The garden is operational grow year-around. The crew includes male and female volunteers and people of all ages are welcome
For over 20 years, Hope For Youth has provided programming designed to give Houston’s urban youth a fighting chance for a better future, through healthy relationships with Christian mentors and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Through outreach events, small group mentoring, college prep classes, and summer camps, Hope For Youth is able to serve urban youth regardless of where or how often they move in Houston. The goal of these programs is to reach youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ, disciple them in their spiritual growth, and prepare them academically and socially for life beyond their present circumstances. Teens aged 11-19 attend Friday Night Live, held typically on the first Friday of every month, where volunteers are needed to transport youth, facilitate small group bible study, set up registration, and serve food.
