Pathways Create: West U Baptist Teaching Theater

Our Pathways building plan includes creating a new, technologically advanced Teaching Theater to serve as a high-impact, flexible space for adult education, training, and strategic gatherings. This dedicated space will feature state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, replacing the reliance on less suitable rooms. Currently, Dr. Tour’s class teachings receive nearly 5,000 views a weekend, and this is done in our gymnasium with less-than-ideal lighting and equipment. We want to elevate our in-person and online experience to reach as many people as possible with the Word of God. In funding this Teaching Theater, we are directly supporting the intellectual and spiritual depth of our congregation, enabling world-class teaching that transforms lives and equips us to engage the culture with confidence and grace, both inside our walls, and around the world.

One of the primary functions of the local church is to teach the Word of God. From the sanctuary to our classrooms, the more numerous and excellent our teaching environments, the better we fulfill our core mission. In the proposed renovations, our campus will gain a new, large classroom, which we are calling the Teaching Theater. This room will be designed for versatility and equipped with updated technology to provide both an exceptional in-person experience and a robust online presence, multiplying our reach far beyond the walls of the church. The Teaching Theater will be used by our own teaching pastors, guest lecturers at special events, and world-class resident teachers such as Dr. James Tour. With a creative and compelling space like this, we will be able to deliver the message of God’s Word more clearly and extend its impact farther than ever before.

Endorsement from Dr. James Tour, West U Baptist Member

We need the Teaching Theater space for the college ministry. For twenty-six years, the college ministry has been moved from one location to another, from the current building to the community center. We have never before had a dedicated space. Now, with the weekly filming for YouTube—which is likely the most visible event that we hold each week—it would be helpful to have a dedicated area for that filming and teaching of the scriptures.
