Pastor Walter August, Jr. of Bethel's Heavenly Hands
Pastor Walter August, Jr. was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on January 28, 1959 and grew up in Abbeville, La. Upon completing high school in 1977, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he faithfully served through 1983. In 1984, he joined First City Bank Corporate Security Group and attended the Professional Management Training School reaching the position of Security Specialist in 1991.
In 1992, Pastor August professed his calling into the gospel ministry under the leadership of Dr. E.L. Lott, Senior Pastor of True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Houston. He was employed by LaSalle Partners Asset Management Company and served as their Director of Security through 1996.

In 1994, Pastor August organized and founded Bethel Family Baptist Church along with his wife, three sons, and six committed adults. Bethel’s Family has baptized over 9,000 Souls and serves over 17,000 people through 50 different ministries. He also served 7 ½ years at Sugar Creek Baptist Church as their Missions Pastor. He has placed Bethel’s Family on the frontline of every major disaster in and around these United States, impacting over a million people!

Through Pastor August’s leadership, over 2,000 people have traveled to Belize, India, Angola, Africa, Kenya, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Haiti, Hawaii, and the Czech Republic doing evangelism training, medical clinics, and developing church leadership teams. He attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Houston and received Honorary Doctorates of Divinity from Saint Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida, Encourager Bible College, in India, and Alliance Theological Seminary/Mints International Seminary.

In 2003, Pastor August started Bethel’s Heavenly Hands Food Pantry and Clothing Center. Heavenly Hands is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has grown tremendously over the years and now serves over 17,000 people in the community per month.

In 2004, Pastor August came to Bethel’s Family full-time, and the ministry flourished under his leadership. In 2006, his care and concern for families in the surrounding communities compelled him to create Bethel’s Place. Bethel’s Place is a separate 501(c)3 Community Development and Empowerment Center that serves over 4,000 people a week. In August 2010, he opened the doors to Bethel’s Family Christian Academy, offering a viable faith-based learning environment to young families in the community for teaching and developing their children.

Pastor August founded “The Nehemiah Projects of Acadiana,” a non-profit organization in Abbeville, La. that is transforming the lives and impacting communities in South Louisiana.

Pastor August has been married to Ruby Jewel August for almost 37 years! They have three sons (Walter III, wife-Tanecia Patrick, Alex, wife-Marcie) and they have eleven grandchildren.
Dr. Duane Brooks of Tallowood Baptist Church
Dr. Brooks began his ministry at Tallowood Baptist Church on Sunday, May 17, 1998. He is a graduate of both Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth and Baylor University in Waco. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Baylor University, cum laude, in 1984, and his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Baylor University in 1991.

Alan Duane Brooks was born in Amarillo, Texas, on July 25, 1962. His father was in the Air Force, so he spent his childhood and youth in many places. They lived in Alaska during the great Anchorage Earthquake and then in Florida, Missouri, and Illinois. At the age of seven, his family moved to Germany for four years and returned to Germany for four more years after living in Washington, D. C. He spent his last two years of high school in Great Falls, Montana, before returning to Texas for his higher education.

He married Melanie Jo Freeman of Temple, Texas, on June 9, 1984. Their oldest son, Graham, and his wife, Abigail have two children, Josie and Thomas. Their son, Chase, and his wife Brooke, have a daughter, Normandy. Their daughter, Casey, is a recent graduate of Baylor University and teaches special needs children.

The Brooks family came to Tallowood from New Hope First Baptist Church in Cedar Park, Texas near Austin where Dr. Brooks was pastor for six years. He was licensed to preach at Highland Baptist Church in Great Falls, Montana, at the age of sixteen and ordained to the ministry at age eighteen. He has served as pastor of Williams Creek Baptist Church in Mart, Texas (1985-1992), Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rosebud, Texas (1981-1985), pastoral intern at Waco Baptist Association (1984), and Calvary Baptist Church, Waco, Texas (1980-1981). Over the years, Dr. Brooks has led revival services and conferences in Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Illinois, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas, as well as international Bible conferences. In recent years, he has preached at Paisano, a cowboy camp meeting in West Texas, as well as in Zambia, Brazil and Germany, and led conferences for missionaries who serve in Central Asia and most recently Bulgaria.

As a denominational leader, Dr. Brooks has served on several boards of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He has served on the Board of Regents at Baylor University and is currently on the Board of Trustees at Houston Baptist University. He is Adjunct Professor at Truett Seminary as well as Adjunct Professor in the areas of Preaching and New Testament Theology at Houston Baptist University. It has been his honor to write Sunday School literature for Texas Baptists. In 2010, he wrote a doctrinal study book called This Magnificent Salvation, published by BaptistWay Press. He is currently writing online commentaries for BaptistWay Press as well as online daily devotional studies.
Dr. Lawrence Scott of One Church @ Harvest Point
Dr. Lawrence Scott is the planting and Lead Pastor of One Church @ Harvest Point. He has extensive ministry experience, having held various positions in the local church. Apart from leading One Church @ Harvest Point, Pastor Scott is also a Church Consultant and trainer. Additionally, he is the Alumni Director for the Greater Houston area in the Alumni Relations department at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Pastor Scott is a devoted husband and father. He is married to the love of his life, the beautiful and gifted Shannon Scott. They have six children: Kaelyn, Leah, Eden, Lawrence III, Zachary, and Reagan. Both Lawrence and Shannon are passionate about helping people discover their God-given purpose.

Lawrence has earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Houston, a Master of Theology (ThM) degree with an emphasis in Pastoral Leadership, and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary.
