From the Pastor: Year-End and Year-Beginning

Mary Ellen Ermis December 30, 2022 Devotionals, cityrise, Deep and Wide, houston, Roger Patterson,

Year-End & Year-Beginning

I have to say again how great Christmas weekend was at CityRise. Being able to celebrate Christ’s birth on a Sunday doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, that’s even more reason to gather! And I hope you were encouraged throughout the month to go deeper in your faith and experience our Lord in a way that you never had before. All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend December and Christmas together.

Next up is the new year! 2023 will be here in just two days, if you can believe it. We can believe it here at CityRise, which is why we will have New Year’s Day worship services on campus and online.

Please note that there will be no Community Groups; childcare will be provided for on-campus services for 4-year-olds and younger.

I hope you’re able to attend! We will be resuming our “Flourishing Life Journey” with the next series: The Flourishing Kingdom. Let’s start 2023 on the right foot—with worship—when the new year hasn’t even finished its first day yet.

Speaking of finishing, this is the last call for year-end giving for 2022! I sent out an 80-second video on Wednesday, so I encourage you to watch it to learn how to make sure your year-end contribution is on the books for 2022. To sum up, our Business Office is open at West U Baptist (6218 Auden) from 9am to 4pm Saturday, December 31, if you’d like to hand deliver a financial gift; you can give online anytime by tomorrow night; and if you’d like to mail your gift, we advise doing so today so that you can ensure a postmark that is by December 31.

We’ve had quite a historic year in our church’s history by starting the Deep & Wide Generosity Initiative. 2023 is going to be even more memorable as we witness God’s vision for CityRise take shape across our physical and digital campuses. More to come, Church Family! I can’t wait to share more with you and to be a part of God’s plan alongside you. See you on Sunday!

Stay Expectant in 2023,

Pastor Roger
