From the Pastor: A Deeper December

Mary Ellen Ermis December 23, 2022 Devotionals, A Deeper December, Christmas at CityRise, cityrise, houston, Roger Patterson,

Merry Christmas!

During this Deeper December, we have been studying other gifts that God has given to us, gifts that we don’t immediately think of as the “usual” type of gift.

• He has gifted us with His presence.

• He has gifted us with His Kingship.

• He has gifted us with His peace.

• He has gifted us with His joy.

And now, over this coming Christmas weekend, we will look at both the incredible gift of adoption into His family and the gift of His hope, both exemplified mightily in the ultimate Christmas gift—the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Which means it’s finally time to start the celebration! We’re rejoicing all weekend, excited for you to join us for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in worshiping our Lord. Here’s where and when you can worship with us tomorrow and Sunday:

Christmas Day: 11am (English & Spanish)

Childcare will be provided for on-campus services on Christmas Eve for 4-year-olds and younger. There will be no Community Groups or childcare on Christmas Day.

I look forward to seeing you and who you bring with you! Christmas is really the perfect time to worship and praise our Heavenly Father for what He has done and for the gifts He has given us through His Son.

Gifts are certainly everywhere this time of year. And with about a week left remaining in December, there’s still time to give a year-end gift for 2022. God has always provided everything we have needed at CityRise, and that’s why we’re excited to step in to 2023 and very soon begin the first phases of our Deep & Wide Generosity Initiative.

And the end of December is always an important time for us as a church. As you give at year’s end, please continue praying and asking how you can help. You have the option to give in person, by mail, or online. We have more information about when and how to give at cityrise.org/give, or you can email your questions to our Business Administrator, Liana Fairbanks, at liana.fairbanks@cityrise.org.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” (Luke 2:14) I’ll see you this weekend, Church Family!

Merry Christmas!
