From the Pastor: Kickoff Sunday!
It was Kickoff Sunday last weekend at all our campuses. To celebrate the passing of summer and kick off the new season, we encouraged our congregation to wear their team jerseys and logos! Sunday, your Houston Texans opened the regular season against the Indianapolis Colts in a division game, and it was Coach Lovie Smith and quarterback Davis Mills’ opportunity to step up and show out for their hometown fans. Speaking of football, on September 3 I had the honor of sharing the opening prayer for the Baylor Bears. It was a real treat; Baylor came out on top, and we got to have dinner with Brady too!
One of our desires with this weekly post is to keep you abreast of what is happening at church, give you some value-added content, and encourage you on your journey. With that in mind, I want to call your attention to our Marriage Night event on Friday, September 16 at our Crosspoint Church – Bellaire campus. You don’t want to miss the presentation from Matt Hammitt (former lead singer of the Christian band Sanctus Real) and his wife, Sarah, which will help build your marriage. Like everything else in life, we must invest time, energy, and effort if we want our marriages to be all that they can be. So, if you are married, you owe it to yourself to carve out some time and make this investment. Your church is investing in you, offering you childcare, and praying for your marriage. All you have to do is show up! We look forward to seeing your marriage strengthened.
As you may have noticed, each week we are featuring an article from Empowered Homes, a valuable website created by our friends at Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, Texas. Dr. Ryan Rush is a dear friend of mine and a great pastor. His church has created this bank of articles and resources that we want to share with you to strengthen you at any point of your life’s journey.
This week’s article is on lessons we can glean from youth sports. As fall kicks off, maybe the three tips inside will help you and your kids take the field during their team’s season or in life.
We launch a new series this weekend, and we can’t wait to see you in one of our worship gatherings.
